In February, 2007, I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I still remember that day and the instant fear I felt. Since then I have done a decent job of controlling my numbers even without sugar medication. Exercise has been the key for me. Unfortunately, life itself hit me pretty hard about a year after diagnosis and I have been struggling to get myself back to the point I was at the end of that first year of living with this disaase. Diabetes is a killer that has become an epidemic in our country especially given our lifestyles and food consumption. With my own experience as my motivation, I want to do everything in my power to help educate, prevent, and fund the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in hopes that one day, we will find a cure for this horrible disease.
